Suffering breakout, be it mild, moderate or severe, is no doubt a frustrating, upsetting and often painful thing to endure. Whilst no one wishes to experience the discomfort, sometimes having clarity and understanding of why it has happened can help with the healing journey, encourage my clients to stay focused on sticking to the plan and really get to know what's going on in their body.
Hormones - the party wreckers hey, they show up for everything and we can't hide from them, but we can support them especially when we receive 'signs' that the party isn't going to get much better if we don't lend a hand!
Acne breakouts on the chin, jawline & neck area are big tell-tale signs that there is a hormonal imbalance or fluctuations. In most cases people will think "I have acne spots...that means I've too much oil". There is a degree of truth here, however it's not always a case of too much oil, and therefore it is not always the best choice to strip or scrub that oil away. Acne is caused by more than one dysfunction or imbalance.
Androgens are the hormones involved in oil or sebum production. In acne prone skin, the problem is the pace at which most things are moving...
Oil flow is too fast
Cell turnover too fast
Abnormality in cell division
What happens when cars go too fast? Crash, pile-up, congestion, traffic jam!
Well, if we think of this analogy for our skin cells, in acne this is kinda what's going on. There is a build-up of old redundant cells, excessive oil, cells stuck in the hair shaft, then bacteria joins the party, it's all very messy and then hello, there's a big pimple!
Some will opt for the 'pill' or Roaccutane to target the hormonal acne. Is this the only choice? The simple answer is NO! A natural or holistic approach is wholly effective, less intrusive on our body's chemistry, does not mask symptoms of dysfunction and offers a much healthier result. And that's where I sit when it comes to acne management.

Intuition is an amazing ability to know something without having proof, but we question everything and more often than not, we ignore that ‘gut feeling’ and there is much reason as to why we refer to intuition as going with our gut. Our gut, you see, it is our second brain.
"It's a time to tune into your body and embrace the new chapter"...
Menopause by definition is when a woman stops having periods, a natural process that can happen between the age of 45 - 55.
It can be a time that many women fear or even dred and feel unsure about.
However, as we live in a world that shares a lot more information, the once taboo, not talked about topics are now realised as being critical and normal parts of life, that should and need to be discussed, without shameor prejudice.
If a musical instrument is out of tune, it sounds bad. It can ruin a live performance and it isn't so easy on the ears! And what happens in this situation? Well, a muso quickly tunes up their guitar or fiddle, does a little sound check and makes sure everything is a-o-k! No one would ever continue to play when their instrument is not working optimally, and who would pay to see a concert if the lead guitarist was totally off key?
